Ato Getachew Belay is appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of The Endowment Fund For the Rehabilitation of Tigray (EFFORT) as of October 11, 2005. Previously, Ato Getachew Belay had served as Minister of the Ministry of Revenue of the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia from October 2001 to October 2005.

Prior to his appointment as a Minister, Ato Getachew had worked upto the rank of Senior Expert and Team Coordinator of MEDaC and the former MoPED.

In addition, he has been serving as Chairman/Member of Board of Directors of the Natural Gum Processing and Marketing Enterprise, Gulele Garment Factory, Ethiopian Export Promotion Agency, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Shipping Lines S.C., Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation, and Ethiopian Investment Authority. All in all he has 16 years of work experience.

Moreover, he had been member of the Advisory Boards for projects which include, the Promotion of the Informal Sector for Development in African– sponsored by UNECA, Ethio-German Micro and Small Enterprises Development Programme- sponsored by GTZ and Enterprise Ethiopia a program sponsored jointly by UNCATD, UNDP and Enterprise Africa. Ato Getechew had also taught, as a part timer, Economics and Quantitative Methods at the Addis Ababa University.

Ato Getachew Belay is a graduate of the Addis Ababa University and Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna, Austria; and he holds BS.c and M.A in Statistics and Economics, respectively.

Meanwhile, a farewell and reception party organized by the social committee of the corporate office in honor to both the departing and newly assigned Deputy Chief Executive Officers, was held on October 13,2005 at the office of the DCEO. Ambassador Addisalem expressed, during the occasion, his appreciation for the kindness and cooperation that all employees of the Corporate Office rendered to him during his stay in EFFORT and urged to exert utmost effort to continue the momentum and work hard so as to achieve the desired goals of our organization.

Ato Getachew on his part expressed his readiness to work closely with all pertinent bodies, maintain all the good things in the corporate office, and further develop them.

A Literature Evening organized by the Cultural Association of Tigray Addis Ababa Branch and the honorary sponsorship of The Endowment Fund For the Rehabilitation of Tigray (EFFORT) was conducted at the Mega Creative Arts Center on 22 October 2005 her in the metropolis. Various pieces of pomes and a play, which reflected the prevailing situation of the country, were staged during the event and hailed by the audience. The Endowment Fund For the Rehabilitation of Tigray (EFFORT) was awarded a certificate in recognition to the effort it has been exerting to promote the development of the language and literature of Tigrigna.

EFFORT hailed for the effort it is being exerting to promote the development of the culture and language of the People of Tigray.
